Is Boeing Stock Outperforming the Nasdaq?![]() Valued at a market cap of $159.4 billion, Arlington, Virginia-based The Boeing Company (BA) is one of the largest U.S. defense contractors and a global leader in aerospace. It operates through three main segments: Commercial Airplanes; Defense, Space & Security; and Global Services. Companies valued at more than $10 billion are generally considered “large-cap” stocks, and Boeing fits this criterion perfectly. Boeing’s diverse customer base includes domestic and international airlines, the U.S. Department of Defense, NASA, and various government and commercial entities worldwide. Shares of Boeing have fallen marginally from its 52-week high of $212.34, recorded on Jun. 2. Boeing's shares have climbed 21.1% over the past three months, outperforming the broader Nasdaq Composite's ($NASX) 2.1% rise during the same period. ![]() In the long term, BA stock has gained 19.5% on a YTD basis, outpacing NASX's marginal decrease over the same period. Moreover, shares of the airplane builder have increased 19.1% over the past 52 weeks, compared to NASX's nearly 15% gain. Despite a few fluctuations, the stock has been trading above its 200-day moving average since early December last year. ![]() Boeing stock surged 6.1% on Apr. 23 after the company reported better-than-expected Q1 2025 revenue of $19.5 billion and adjusted loss of $0.49 per share. Aircraft deliveries jumped 57% year-over-year, from 83 to 130, driven by progress in the 737 and 787 programs, with production targets of 38 and seven planes per month, respectively, by year-end. In contrast, rival RTX Corporation (RTX) has slightly underperformed Boeing on a YTD basis, with a return of 18.8%. However, over the past 52 weeks, RTX shares have gained 28.1%, surpassing Boeing's performance. Despite the stock's outperformance relative to the Nasdaq Composite, analysts remain cautiously optimistic on Boeing. Among the 26 analysts covering the stock, there is a consensus rating of “Moderate Buy,” and it is currently trading below the mean price target of $214.39.
